Pull up a chair!
Today’s Photo Love is all about gathering around a (stylish) table and eating a meal. Who wouldn’t want to have a meal at any one of these settings!?!
The warm summer nights lately have me thinking I want to once again have a regular meal with friends. Once a week. Every other. Doesn’t matter. All I know is that there was something special that went on during those meals I had in the cafeteria during college. We’d sit on the deck in the warm breezy evening and our long meandering “can’t-remember-how-this-started” conversations were filled with laughter, teasing, debates, stories, brainstorming, flirting…the stuff of life and friendship. And while I know that I can never recreate that time again, I look forward to setting my table for new friends - sharing meals… sharing life.

Had to share this photo that I caught on 100 Layer Cake (one of my new faves for styling ideas and great event photography). How great is his reaction!?!

Today’s Photo Love is all about inspiration for the photos I will take while camping this weekend! Although….I’m not sure it will look quite as dreamy as some of these shots – but either way, I’m excited to spend a little quality one on one time with my camera…oh yeah…and the folks I’ll be going with. hehe. In all their scruffy bed-head glory!

I’m itchin’ for some fireside time.
I saw this great pic and immediately wanted to jump inside of it. Apparently it’s part of someone’s rehearsal dinner – which I think is simply brilliant. Nothing like s’mores and conversation on the eve of your wedding day. As the days get nicer, resolutions for the second half of the year start to emerge….things like my desire to go camping more than once this summer, carry my camera with me more, run another 5k, go on a road trip, watch less tv and spend more time reading, eat salad, budget better, eat as many of my meals on the deck as possible, paint something, attend outdoor events, always have fresh flowers on my table….write more on my blog.
So here’s to being a little more than half over….and hopeful for what lies ahead…. Sun & Fires.

Sometimes the mess-ups are the most beautiful.
This was a reject from a photo shoot I had yesterday. But I love it oh so much that I had to share it!

I made a graphic for a little Opening Ceremonies party I’m going to have and could not hide the pure joy and hilarity I enjoy when I see stills of bloopers. Don’t get me wrong, this is horrible and looks extremely painful, but it must tug at the inner “America’s Funniest Home Videos” gene deep inside me. I also realized during my image search how critical it is that figure skating be enjoyed in video format. The stills I found were more than awkward.
Can’t wait for the ski jumpers to start sailing in a little less than two weeks from now!

I was shooting at our Mill Creek store and was totally captivated by the cover of a new retrospective of work by photographer Yousuf Karsh. I imagine Ernie’s taking a break from spearing whales or hunting seals.

Today’s Photo Love photo features J. Tillman – (drummer for the Fleet Foxes) who also has his own solo albums, which I’ve been listening to lately. Perfect sound for this fall-in-disguise we find ourselves in.

Scoped out the new J. Crew catalog last thursday on my way into work and fell in love with not only the luscious layering and new fall colors, but most importantly – the photos! I believe the photographer is Daymion Mardel, who has shot other J.Crew and Crewcuts catalogs. I might be wrong, so I will continue to scope it out. Also, it’s a bit gratifying to know that unbeknownst to me, I am right on target – trendwise – with layered necklaces being the thing right now (see last photo).
