My name is Leah Dankertson (Dank·ert·son) and I am a creative freelancer based out of Seattle. I have over 10 years of experience in art, design, and photography.

I’ve had the privilege to work with such fine folks as Amazon.com, Fonté Coffee Roasters, The Northwest Symphony Orchestra, and University Book Store and have had my work featured in such fine publications as  Seattle Magazine and Wine Spectator.  I love working with people and brands that are passionate about the story they have to tell, who love the collaboration process as much as I do, and are eager to take bold and creative chances.

Outside of the “office” you’ll find me drinking way too many americanos, cooking dinners for friends, singing at the top of my lungs while sitting in traffic, being Jimmy Fallon’s #1 fan, dreaming of the next place I want to travel, and thinking of more art I could be making.

Guides Along the Way

Guides Along the Way

I’m posting this week’s Freelance Life post a little late, but I didn’t want to miss sharing with you some of the books, blogs, articles, and videos that I’ve turned to inspire creativity and to teach me about this bizness of running a business. Books Creative, Inc.: The Ultimate Guide to Running a Successful Freelance Business…

The Learning Curve

The Story of the Pit…

The Story of the Pit…

Today I thought I’d tell you a little story… Once upon a time there was a humble freelancer named Pixel. Pixel wakes up one day to her alarm.  She presses the snooze button once…er…okay…two times (but who’s counting, right?).  Today she jumps out of bed, bright, eager, and ready to take on the day and…

Downstairs a drill hums and makes the ground beneath me shudder. The door opens and closes as the repairman tests his work. Open. Close. Open. Close.  And with each buzz of a saw, I am reminded that a few days ago our door was opened in a much different way, having been kicked open in…

Pies. Games. Polka Dots. Espresso. Presents. Did I mention the Pie? This sweet shower and mini-portrait session for Ben and Rachel was such a fun Sunday afternoon.  So excited for these two becoming new parents and the exciting season ahead! A big thanks also goes to A la Mode Pies in Phinney Ridge for hosting the…

Beginning

A couple of weeks ago I wrote this: Today is my first day of…freedom…freelance…er…unemployment. Whatever you want to call it, right? I want to be able to say that this story ends well. That the single gal makes a brave decision and it leads to a life she could never have imagined for herself filled…
